E-Business (also known as electronic business) consists of any activities a business conducts online. E-commerce is the part of that business that involves the buying and selling of goods or services over a computer network. Programs in e-business and e-commerce teach you about business practices unique to conducting business on the Internet. These include search engine optimization, maximizing website performance, and online advertising.
Students enrolled in e-business and e-commerce programs will learn about traditional business areas such as project management, accounting and finance. Students will also study electronic commerce, web design and development, electronic security, and management of information systems. Depending on whether you’re taking a technical or management approach, you’ll want to look into the computer and/or business courses as well. Programs in e-business and e-commerce are available at the certificate, associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree levels.

The Internet has changed the ways companies do business. New applications, increased data storage capacity, and developing technologies will continue to fuel innovations in this exciting area of business. There are many players in the e-business arena. Naturally, there is a demand for highly skilled computer programmers, software engineers, database administrators, systems analysts, and network administrators. Like any business, an e-business needs managers and support staff as well.
