Electronics & Computer Technology Degrees

Electronic systems are groupings of electronic components and circuits designed to accomplish one or more complex technological or electronic functions. Electronic systems include computers, which store and process information; communications applications, which transmit and receive information; and industrial applications, which are used in manufacturing. Examples of electronic systems include telecommunication systems, power distribution systems, radar systems, and electronic music systems.

Electronics and computer technology programs usually include extensive training and skills for everything from hardware to circuitry. These programs generally offered at the certificate, diploma, associate degree, and bachelor degree level, with management programs at the master’s degree level. These programs train students for careers in a wide range of electronics and electronic-systems applications and as computer service technicians, computer repair technicians, and PC Help Desk experts. There are also industry-recognized credentials under specific brand names such as Cisco, for a variety of programming, database, operating system, and network applications.

Since electronics underlie every machine that makes 21st-century life hum, experienced technicians in hardware, systems, and networks will always be in demand.
