Medical Assistant
Medical assistant programs are usually one or two years long. You’ll learn how to take medical histories, check vital signs, draw blood, complete basic laboratory tests, and perform electrocardiograms. Medical assistants also assist physicians during examinations and instruct patients about medication. After you complete your training, you can take an exam to become a certified medical assistant.

Your responsibilities as a medical assistant will include office administrative duties as well as healthcare duties. If you work in the office of an ophthalmologist, podiatrist, or other specialist, you’ll perform tasks related to that specialty.
