The Dental Receptionist Coordinator program is designed to familiarize students with the clinical procedures of a dental office in order to provide the support systems required for the efficient operation of the clinic.
Among other topics, students will cover appointment management, cash handling, billing practices, maintaining patient charts, developing effective recall systems and the One-Write computerized bookkeeping system.
During the program, students will have hands-on training in a computer lab and will become proficient with two clinical and management computer systems on a windows-based platform. Students will receive extensive training on the clinical chart, sophisticated ledger, customized appointment book, patient file and office administrator component.
Career Opportunities
After successfully completing this program, graduates may seek employment with a variety of dental offices such as a general dentist, an endodontist, a periodontist, an orthodontist, a pedodontist, a prosthodontist, and an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
Other job opportunities may be found as a receptionist for a dental distribution or a dental manufacturing company. Positions are also available in the dental department of a hospital, a dental laboratory, and with the public health department.
