Therapeutic Massage and Skin Care - Associate of Science

This program combines massage therapy and skin care to prepare graduates to perform duel roles in the allied health and spa industry as a massage therapist and facial specialist. The massage therapy and skin care program provides training in therapeutic massage and skin care with knowledge of the structure and function of the human body. Students receive training in massage therapy procedures and techniques, allied modalities, hydrotherapy, law and ethics, the prevention of medical errors, proper procedures behind the use of skin care techniques, aromatherapy, and business and client development. General education courses prepare the graduate with advanced decision making skills in various capacities in the massage therapy and skin care field. The program prepares students for the Florida State Board examination for licensure for massage therapists and registration for facial specialist in the state of Florida. The licensed graduate and registered facial specialist graduate is qualified for entry-level employment as a Licensed Massage Therapist and Registered Facial Specialist. The graduate can demonstrate communication and employability skills and can apply professional and appropriate ethics to all areas of the job.

The therapeutic massage and skin care program consists of 130 quarter credit hours and 1665 contact hours of instruction and clinic practice. An Associate of Science degree is awarded to a student upon successful completion of all graduation requirements listed in the catalog.
