Graphic Designers play an important role in the communication process. They use color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print media and layout techniques to create a visual message.

Graphic Designers create visual communications for brochures, posters, magazine covers, tickets, business cards, T-Shirts, signs, logos, advertisements, Web pages, Internet banners, flash animation, Web interfaces, multimedia presentations, and more.

The objectives of the Graphics Design Associate in Specialized Technology Degree (A.S.T.) program are to provide students with knowledge of the graphic design industry and history, today’s design trends and the future demands of design, animation and multimedia. The program also teaches the necessary skills to take an active role in today’s graphic design industry. The student will learn the skills valued by employers in desktop publishing, graphic design, commercial art and printing.

Program graduates will develop entry-level skills for employment in positions including but not limited to:

  • Art Directors
  • MultiMedia Artists and Animators
  • Commercial and Industrial Designers
  • Graphic Designers
  • Merchandise Displayers and Window Trimmers
  • Set and Exhibit Designers
  • Desktop Publishers

This program is 21 months (days); 24 months (evenings).
