The Medical Assistant Sciences Associate in Specialized Business program provides students the training and skills needed to succeed in a variety of Allied Health occupations. Medical Assisting is the fastest growing occupation this decade, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook.
Students from this program typically work in areas such as clinical positions (EKG, phlebotomy, blood pressures, injections, lab work), and administrative positions (keyboarding, bookkeeping, insurance billing, front office operation). The student will also be prepared to pursue professional certification as a Medical Assistant.
The skills and knowledge acquired from this program will enable the graduate to work as an entry-level health professional in one of many different medical environments, such as clinical labs, general practitioner offices, area specialists, and other ambulatory settings.
Program graduates will develop entry-level skills for employment in positions including but not limited to:
- Medical Records and Health Information Technicians
- Home Health Aides
- Nursing Aides, Orderlies and Attendants
- Psychiatric Aides
- Medical Assistants
- Medical Equipment Preparers
- Medical Transcriptionists
