Argosy University Doctor of Psychology in School Psychology (Psy.D.)

The Doctor of Psychology in School Psychology (PsyD) is designed to prepare students for school psychology certification and licensure as a psychologist. Graduates may be employed in a variety of settings including school districts, agencies, hospitals, independent practice and university training programs. Argosy University offers a practitioner-scholar model of training in school psychology. The school psychology program emphasizes study in ethics, child and adolescent development and psychopathology, special education, psychological assessment, therapeutic techniques as well as other psychological interventions including consultation to the educational system. Courses are taught by doctoral level professors who are school certified and/or licensed psychologists. The program is designed to be completed in 4 1/2 – 5 years and includes two years of practica and a year of internship. Class times vary with courses being taught in the late afternoon, early evening and during the day. Preparations are underway for initiating Saturday classes. Practica and internships are available in local public and private schools, as well as other settings, under the supervision of licensed psychologists. Classes, as well as practical experiences, emphasize experiences with diverse populations.
