City College Mental Health Technologist - Associate of Science
The Mental Health Technology Major prepares students with the technical abilities needed for the mental health profession. As the focus moves from institutionalized rehabilitative services to developmental community-based service, Mental Health Technologists are in great demand.
Students are given the opportunity to develop the clinical and administrative skills necessary to work closely with psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and other professionals in the mental health field. The program includes a clinical externship in which classroom knowledge is applied in actual work situations at an approved mental health facility.
Graduates will be prepared to sit for the national certification exam for psychiatric technician
