The Computer and Electronics Technician program is designed to teach students skills and abilities in electronics for employment in electronic component manufacturing to “bench technician” skills in consumerism, industrial and microprocessor (computer) repair. Graduates of this program will learn the areas of Basic, Solid State, Digital, and Microprocessors for consumer and industrial uses. They will learn basic electricity and electronic circuitry. The student will be able to work with digital fundamentals, logic circuits and digital to microprocessor conversions. They will learn how PC-based microprocessors including hardware, peripheral-based memory and storage systems, printers, modems and CD-ROMs work. Graduates of the program may find employment as computer support specialists, computer repairs, automated teller machine servicers, office machine servicers, or networking administrators. These positions are available in corporate offices and small companies, banks, large and small computer companies, as well as government administrative positions. These students can also become self-employed computer repairmen or consultants.
