This program is designed to provide the training necessary for a student to work as a pharmacy technician/assistant under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, depending on individual state requirements and perform many different pharmacy-related functions. Basic anatomy, medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, drug distribution systems and preparation of sterile dosage forms; as well as, other pharmacy office procedures/billing and compliance with state and federal pharmaceutical regulations are introduced in this program of study. Pharmacy technicians/assistants are used in a wide variety of practice settings, including community pharmacies, hospitals, in home health care, long term care and managed health care facilities. Upon successful completion, the program culminates in the awarding of a Pharmacy Technician diploma.
