Electrical Technician - Diploma

The objective of the Electrical Technician program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for an entry-level position as a electrical technician. This program provides instruction in the basic fundamentals of electricity and its practical applications; instructs students in direct current and alternating current circuitry; residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, along with specialized areas such as motors and motor control circuits, transformer installations, and services requirements; and provides instruction of the National Electrical Code and its application to safe electrical installations. Students may use their skills in entry-level positions as electrical technicians on new construction projects, on additions for restoration sites, or may secure commercial or industrial maintenance positions.

Graduates of the program may utilize their skills to find entry-level employment as electrical technicians in various companies to include: building construction and design; general building construction; commercial and residential construction; construction equipment and supply; hobby and model construction supplies; lake and pond maintenance; paving contractors and construction; and swimming pool contractors.
