Paralegal - Diploma

Paralegals, or legal assistants, are in great demand, as they can perform many of the duties that attorneys have traditionally accomplished. Paralegals free attorneys for other duties, and are cost-effective for law firms and businesses. As a paralegal, your career path will provide you with challenging work and expanded job opportunities. The objective of the Paralegal program is to prepare students for work in various areas such as local, state and federal governmental court positions, legal departments of private corporations, private law firms, governmental agencies such as Immigration and Naturalization, Social Security and Judge Advocate General Offices, and litigation support companies such as process servers and private investigators. Graduates are prepared to assist lawyers through use of legal research, legal terminology, and use of various legal software programs and Internet legal sites. Upon completion, students will be eligible to take the Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) exam and become certified by the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).
