The Surgical Technologist program includes instruction in both the didactic and clinical aspects of surgical technology. Graduates of this program may perform duties such as preparing the operating room, instruments, equipment and supplies as well as passing instruments and necessary items to the surgeon during the surgical procedure. The Surgical Technologist may also position and prepare the patient for surgical procedures and identify breaks in aseptic techniques that could endanger the outcome of the procedure. The graduate may also perform other technical functions in the operating room under the supervision, guidelines, and policies of the hospital or outpatient surgical facility.
