The Dental Assistant program prepares students for entry-level positions as dental assistants in dental offices, clinics or lab environments, with the skills needed for advancement in the dental field, depending upon the studentís goals. The program teaches students how to assist a dentist and perform tray setups. Students have the opportunity to learn about patient care techniques, infection control and sterilization, medical emergencies, taking dental x-rays, making dental impressions, various dental instruments, oral evacuation, fixed prosthodontics, pharmacology and pain control and preventive dentistry.
